The University of Windsor Muslim Students Association presents Violent Radicalization and Its Impact on Muslims. The issue of radicalization has become a growing concern in Canada, especially in light of recent events. In this educational panel discussion, we hope to publicly address this complex issue which affects not only the general Canadian public but perhaps even more so, the Muslim community as a whole. Why does a person raised in the West decide to leave their life here to fight overseas? How do we stop more from going? What are our national security concerns in relation to these individuals? What do Islamophobia, foreign policy, and media coverage have to do with this? Is there a solution to this issue? Join us for this panel discussion and Q&A session featuring the following speakers: Faisal Kutty: Assistant Professor of Law at Valparaiso University Law School in Indiana, Adjunct Professor of Law at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, Huffington Post Blogger, and widely published writer. Mohammad Robert Heft: Founder of P4E Support Group, de-radicalization and counter-terrorism expert. Superintendent Doug Best: Assistant Criminal Operations Officer—National Security, RCMP. Date: Wednesday, November 26th Time: 6:00pm to 8:30pm Location: Ambassador Auditorium, located on the 2nd floor of the University of Windsor CAW Student Centre All are welcome.
