The Update Status on Facebook asks, Whats on your mind? It should ask, Can you read other peoples minds? I would answer no, but its a gift I would love to possess. Wouldnt it be cool if we really had that ability. Sometimes you have to make your best guess. Sometimes you may be wrong. One of my biggest fears in life is bothering people when they want to be left alone. Its not that Im stupid, unaware, or ignorant; I respect others. See, thats where my extreme shyness really comes from because unless you can read peoples minds, you never really know. I am always worried that people wont want to talk to me or that they wont like me for whom I am (the nerd who likes Civil War documentaries, museums, and reading research articles). And if they dont like me, its ok as long as I like myself. My sons music teacher told me the other day that I was very outgoing and extroverted. I laughed about it because I dont see myself that way at all. Im just being me. That was one of the biggest compliments I have ever received. It just proves that the worlds view of me is definitely different than my own. The fact that I sit and admit this to myself and others on facebook proves my confidence is growing.
