Ever since those early “rave” days, Mike has been perfecting his art of long integrated mixes through every genre he can get his hands on. His love of Housemusic began when he heard mixes on the radio in the mid 80’s. In the late 80’s and early 90’s while living in Harvey, Illinois, he started spinning. In ’92 he moved to Evanston, Illinois that is where he improved his skills on the 1’s and 2’s. After which, he started making mixtapes and doing Houseparties in ’93. By 1997 and 1998, Dj Mathis “Mega M.” Rousseau had two residencies. His first was at the “The Stuff Lounge” in Chicago Heights, Illinois on Tuesday nights and his second was at Biddy Mulligans’ on the northside of Chicago on Thursday nights. After an eleven-year break, in 2010 DJ Mathis “Mega M.” Rousseau emerged back on the House scene with a vengeance. He has had sets at Smartbar, Primary, Grandbar, Castle, Zhou B. Art Center, Lokal, Output Lounge, Sub-T, The Celebrity Lounge, DHS, MLounge, Elbo Room, and Parlour. He has worked with over 30 well-known Chicago and some internationally known House DJs’.He also has played at the 2013 Winter Music Conference in Miami and Chicagos House of Sol 2013. Always a music enthusiast, he learned violin at the age of 6, then moving on to piano and drums from a young age. He was first introduced to House music after moving to Orlando in 1992 and hitting clubs like Aahz, Marz, and the Abyss... he was instantly hooked. After a few years he got his own decks, and learned to mix on breaks, electro, and house music of the mid 90’s. His first club gigs included parties at the Gator Club, Border Lounge, Barbarella’s, Icon, WMC, Firestone plus numerous house parties. After moving to Chicago in 1999, he further developed his tastes in house music playing weekly residences at Gold @ Rapture and the Mashed Potato Club, and occasional work at other night clubs. In Chicago he has played from grungy southside dives to upscale hangouts like Rive Gauche and Smartbar; from the underground through the mainstream clubs.
