The Vantawng Falls is located 5 km from south of Thenzawl in Serchhip district of Mizoram. It is about 30 km from Serchhip and 130 km from Aizawl. The fall also Known as Vantawng Khawhthla in Mizo language. This is the 13th highest waterfalls in India. The waterfall is surrounded by dense forests of bamboo groves. This fall cascades in the fast flowing rivers of Mizoram. It is located in Vanva River. The total height of the fall is 750 ft. comfortable viewing tower has been constructed by the Tourism Department. This is known by its seven storied cliff which is created by the flow of the water. The Vantawng Falls shares some of the spectacular scenic beauty which gets enriched with the steep cliff that is formed by the tumbling of water. The water drops into a small lake which is cool and provides a pleasant atmosphere for its visitors. The waterfall cascades down the cliffs creating a seven tier effect. A little difficult to access because of the woody hill region and bamboo trees surrounding them, they can be viewed from a watching tower set up by the tourism department. The falls are named after an exceptional swimmer Vantawng who could swim like a fish and perform acrobatics in the pool below. He was killed by a drifting log. Though placed in the outskirts of the city of Aizawl, the Vantawng Falls, Mizoram is accessible from different parts of the state.
