The Vernon Pride committee is being formed now. I volunteered to be on this and am looking for suggestions from all here. To be specific: What was mentioned as the first tasks of the committee were the city parks and the 3 highway approaches (in and out). Please keep in mind that there is a very limited budget from the city for any ideas. As well. apparently our towns population grants us 4 mows from TxDot per year. If anyone knows someone from this State agency, or would be willing to write our State rep and senator for some extra mowings and herbicide applications please do. As an example, Wichita Falls does not get this as per the population, the city does this work. Apparently Childress does, but the city there provides the extra to keep the approaches looking good. Also, the parks. Over the last few years there have been numerous complaints about weeds and sandburs to the point of children not being able to play without this as a distraction. Looking for ideas. Please post common sense and for starters cheap ideas to present to the city. Will provide more information on this when I know more and correct anything already posted. Thank you, Chris Schatte
