The Veterans Memorial in Jordan lists all those known to have lived in Garfield County and served in the armed forces. The earliest names are those who fought in the Civil War and came to homestead, or live with relatives, in Garfield County in their old age. Since this is the 150th anniversary of the Civil War we will give a little more information about these men this Memorial Day. FRANCIS ADAMS (1844-1915) Company B, Maine 30th Infantry. Lived with his daughter, Mrs. Herman Woods of Jordan and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery. GEORGE CALEY (1843-1923) 11th New York Artillery. Homesteaded at Dilo and is buried at the Custer National Cemetery. FRANK GILBERT CARMAN (1845-1925) Company E, 7th Wisconsin Infantry. Lived with his son at Haxby and is buried in Elk River, Idaho. WILLIAM THOMAS COON (1823-1923) Second Illinois Cavalry. Homesteaded on the lower Musselshell River and is buried there. HENRY L. CUMMINGS (1842-1915) Company D, 102nd U.S. Colored Infantry. Homesteaded on Frazier Creek north of Jordan and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery. ARCHIBALD GREENE CURFMAN (1843-1919) Company G, 45th Infantry Regiment of Pennsylvania. Homesteaded in 1916 near Phon and is buried in Greenridge Cemetery. JOSIAH CRAIG DOUGHTY (1843-1921) Listed as a veteran in obituary but not identified in internet records. Homesteaded near Brightview in western Garfield County and is buried in Greenridge Cemetery. MILTON M. GOSLEE (1843-1917) Company E. 46th Indiana Infantry. Homesteaded five miles south of Jordan and is buried in Greenridge Cemetery. ALBERT MARION HALL (1851-1915) Was listed in a source as a veteran but not identified in internet records. His year of birth (if correct) makes it suspect unless he was a drummer boy. He homesteaded near Jordan and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery. BENJAMIN J. HARRY (1838-1915) Company L., 3rd Illinois Cavalry. Homesteaded near Phon and is buried in Pioneer Cemetery. JOHN WESLEY HUSTON (1844-1928) Company G, 6th Indiana Infantry. He homesteaded in northwest Garfield County and is probably buried in California. DANIEL MONROE LOOMIS (1846-1942) Company I, Ohio 38th Infantry Regiment. Homesteaded at Brusett and is buried in the Custer County (Miles City) Cemetery. EDWARD S. PADDOCK (1845-1938) Company I, Wisconsin 29th Infantry. Homesteaded at Brusett and is buried at Owatonna, Minnesota. SEVERN LAFAYETTE PARKS (1842-1928) Company A, 87th Pennsylvania Infantry. Homesteaded at Haxby and is buried at Glasgow, Montana. SOLON AMOS PERRY (1847-1932) Company A, 141st Illinois Infantry. Homesteaded near Phon and is probably buried in California LINDLEY MURRAY STANTON (1832-1924) Company B, 27th Regiment, Missouri Volunteer Infantry. Homesteaded on the south side of Missouri River at Eight Point and is buried near the homestead. The two Stantons listed are not related. WILLIAM MONTGOMERY STANTON (1843-1938) Company D, 3rd Tennessee Infantry. Homesteaded west of Brusett and is buried at Blue Mound, Kansas. JAMES HENRY WILLIAMS (1836-1929) Company B, 33rd Wisconsin Infantry. Homesteaded on Snow Creek northwest of Jordan, and is buried in Greenridge Cemetery.
