The Vic Govt has announced the start date for new hunting body modelled on the flawed NSW Game Council. This week the departmental website says: "From 1 July 2014 a new independent Game Management Authority will oversee and regulate game hunting in Victoria." The revamped DEPI website, changed this week, gives greater prominance to hunting. The page on deer fails to note the major damage caused to the environment, despite Sambar deer being listed as a threatening process under Victorian threatened species laws.
