The Victorious King’s Home-coming Lift up your heads, O ye - TopicsExpress

The Victorious King’s Home-coming Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of Glory shall come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of Glory. Selah. Psalm 24:9-10 When kings lead their victorious army back to their country after a battle with the enemy, wild celebrations break out. The army marches home, their heads held high, banners floating in the wind, and the prisoners of war walking behind, chained and dejected. Joy fills the hearts of all the king’s subjects. We read in 1 Samuel 18:6, “And it came to pass as they (the army) came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of music.” The enemy was defeated and peace was restored again in the land. The army of an earthly king will have to go out again to battle and the result may be defeat and bondage. In this world we can have joy one minute and sorrow the next. There is a glorious king, who never loses a battle, our Lord Jesus Christ. In contrast to an earthly king, this Psalm shows King Jesus, the Creator of heaven and earth and all they that dwell in it. He alone was able to ascend the hill of the Lord victoriously. This victory was won in such a strange way by earthly thinking. The entire world observes Jesus as a man who had no home, despised, and hated by the world even by His own people, the Jews. In the Gospel of John we read in John 1:11-12, “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believed on his name.” These are the ones who will follow King Jesus willingly out of love, to be forever with Him in His kingdom. The judge Pilate asked Him, “Art thou the King of the Jews”? (John 18:33b) Kings have followers; Pilate could see no followers but the few disciples and women. Hear Jesus’ answer John 18:36a, “My kingdom is not of this world:” Jesus came into this sin cursed earth to keep perfectly all things of the law that the first Adam had failed to do. This King in order to win the battle, had to suffer and die on Calvary’s cross losing His life to gain the kingdom for Himself. Jesus ascended from earth with His human nature to His heavenly abode at the right hand of His Father. His chariot was a cloud transporting Him. All in heaven rejoice as King Jesus comes home to glory. Hear the resounding anthems from the realm of Glory, “Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned” Revelation 11:17). Christ enters His heavenly home crowned with majesty and power. He will never rest because He is busy interceding for His people for whom He paid this tremendous price. Are you of that number which shall praise Him to all eternity?
