The Viet Nam war is not the first jungle guerrilla conflict is not - TopicsExpress

The Viet Nam war is not the first jungle guerrilla conflict is not the first such conflict where the US Army got their behinds handed to them. They spent the equivalent today of 8 billion dollars trying to defeat and relocate the Seminole Indians, even though the Seminoles had lived in Florida for many hundreds of years, and had hopes of a peaceful co-existence with the new settlers. They even allowed themselves to be moved to a res in central Florida that was useless swamp ( the Everglades). Many black slaves and Africans hoping to avoid being enslaved joined the Seminole and lived beside them and among them, thus, the Seminole becoming known, along with the Creek and Choctaw, as black Indians as they intermarried. Finally the US racist, genocidal government gave up, and the Seminole still live in Florida. I had a Seminole girlfriend there in the 60s who was a descendant of their great chief Oceola. She took me to her mother and brothers camp out in the Everglades and I got a taste of their rich culture and warmth.. They never attended schools because of their being no treaty of surrender between their peoples and the USA.
