The Vietnamese government snd Embassy should stop issuing statement in support of Cambodian people of Vietnamese descents as if they still hold Vietnamese passport and pay tax to you. They need to be absorbed into Cambodian society and identify themselves as a proud Cambodian, not a fifth column people who come to exploit this country and pack luggage home. Otherwise, the mistrust with the ethnic Khmer will continue and incident of right winng extremists ethnic cleansing will occur again. In comparison to Thai people of Chinese descents whether they are mixed race or pure blood Han Chinese, they would exclusively speak Thai at home, loyal to the Kingdom of Thailand, and totally assimilate into Thai society be it Prime Minister Thaksin or Yingluck. The matter of whether they still consider themsevles as Chinese or not is a personal choice in private sphere whether they practice Chinese culture or still speak some Chinese dialect. They would never identify with the China PRC anymore or its government. However, the case of Vietnamese people in Cambodia is a contested issue for further debate. If you can still get in and out of Vietnam as if it is your sevond passport country, you will be treated skeptically as foreign residents who has no particular pride or loyalty to your country of birth or adopted homeland. You are proud to be German residents in Switzerland but of a proud Swiss of German heritage. So, be careful!
