The Village Action Group will be delivering these leaflets to you this week-end. Please ACT NOW! We need to save the green areas in Westwood Village Once gone we will never get them back What is agreed now may lead to many more potential planning applications in the future, which will change this village forever. Can we protect our village more? If you feel strongly enough to voice your opinions on how we can retain our greens, protect our roads, children and residents, park our cars, feel safe then Read on…………………. Save Our Green The Parish Council are calling an Extraordinary Public Meeting in respect to the two following planning applications. Please Attend @ 6pm 2nd April – Parish Rooms Planning Application 14/02362/FUL : Construction of a terrace of two 2 bed and two 3 bed dwelling with associated access and parking. : Garage site and vacant land at Tynings Way, Westwood BA15 2BS (Selwood Application for Affordable Housing) How many residents consider this green as designated play area for children of the village under 8 : The green is a fundamental community area which should be retained as a Local Open Space which provides a predominantly passive recreation for local residents close to home; in complete safety away from traffic for them to enjoy with their children and grandchildren. How many residents cannot park their car now. There is considerable congestion and parking issues already being experienced in Tynings Way and the roads leading of this area and to increase this could lead to contentious issues. Will this affect you : Additional traffic :Properties are not starter homes as we were advised that these were being developed to encourage young couples to enjoy village life. Two of these proposed properties are for families. This will endeavour to increase noise pollution, strain on amenities and the loss of privacy to local residents. Closing date for All Objections are to Wiltshire Council Planning Department by 7th April : but please write to Westwood Parish Council by 2nd April Also did you know about : Planning Application 14/02361/FUL Garage site at Leslie Rise, Westwood BA15 2BN : Proposed development Demolition of 6 garages and construction of 2 two bed dwelling with associated roads and parking. (Selwood application for Social Housing) Does this have an impact on you, your family, neighbours, the Social Club, Again objections to Wiltshire Council closing date 7th April and Parish Council as this too will be at Extraordinary Public Meeting by Parish Council on 2nd April @ 6pm in Parish Rooms. Did you know about : Planning Application 14/01659/FUL : Haygrove Farm 44 Lower Westwood Bradford on Avon Wiltshire : Demolition of existing Dutch barn, stable building and shed. Erection of a new building to contact 2 units of holiday accommodation, access and associated parking. Did you know that : The owner of the neighbouring field (next to cemetery) has discussed, that she too will apply for planning permission to build as many houses as possible as financial legacy for her grandchildren. This proposal will start a precedent. Holiday makers enjoying their stay, the cemetery is so close could noise pollution affect those who need the tranquil and peaceful setting in times of comfort. The proposed access (entrance/exit) to the development joins the busy and minor ‘C’ classification Lower Westwood Road and is directly adjacent to a very narrow blind bend on that road. There is a significant road safety hazard already existing at that location and the proposed access to the development will exacerbate that danger to an unacceptable level. Recent statistics provided by the Community Speed Watch Team for February 2014 showed that the danger at this point is increasing with over 2000 vehicles observed at this point in the road during a nine hour period whereas a decade earlier only 1700 vehicles were observed during a full 24 hr day. 17 - 23 horses, some being led and not ridden, go through the pinch point each day, not to mention 40+ dog walkers using this route 2-3 times each day, with it being a main route for very young children walking to and from the village primary school. Will the planners take responsibility for any accidents or death caused by acceptance of this proposal? The proposed development is for a (de facto) residential property and it is in a Green Belt and in a Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The proposed development is contrary to the Green Belt policies as detailed in the existing and emerging Wiltshire Core Strategy and the NPPF Section 9 for Green Belts. If this affects you please write to Wiltshire Council 24th March to voice your concerns.
