The Vinita Hornets seize victory thanks to late single, drop Miami 8-7 After five lead changes in Fridays game, the Vinita Hornets finally pulled out a 8-7 win over Miami. The Vinita Hornets took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the victory. The Vinita Hornets went up for good on an RBI single by Emalee Hicks off M Barnes, plating Kaleigh Warren. Libby Horton boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the Vinita Hornets . She singled in the first, sixth, and eighth innings. Sydney McElhany recorded the win for the Vinita Hornets even though she allowed seven runs over eight innings. McElhany struck out one, walked none and gave up 13 hits. M Barnes was the games losing pitcher. She allowed eight runs in eight innings, walked three and struck out three. The top of the first saw the Vinita Hornets take an early lead, 2-0. The Vinita Hornets attack began with a single from Kyndal Kelley. A single by Horton then moved Kelley from first to second. Warren singled, scoring Kelley. The Vinita Hornets pushed more runs across when Horton scored on an RBI single by Rylie Roach. The Vinita Hornets put up one run in each of the second, seventh and eighth. In the second, the Vinita Hornets scored on a sacrifice fly by Horton, plating Kelley. Miami answered the Vinita Hornets s top inning with one run of its own in the second. Miami scored on a passed ball. After a quick strike from the Vinita Hornets , Miami responded with five runs in the fourth.
