The Virginia Naturally Environmental Education Conference, The Flora and Fauna of Virginia, is October 16 - 18 at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs. This conference precedes our Virginia Master Naturalist Conference in Richmond, October 18-20. The state VMN office encourages you to participate in both conferences if you can…lots of advanced training and networking opportunities! You can submit a proposal to lead a break out session or lead a field trip for the EE conference. The deadline to submit a proposal has been extended to July 22. Conference registration will open in August. You can go to their conference website for more details. As a reminder we have set up four shared field trips between both conferences for Friday, October 18. (1)Project Underground Workshop, Grand Caverns, Grottoes, VA (2)History and Nature in One!, Ivy Creek Natural Area, Charlottesville, VA (3) Working Woods Walk and Landmark Old Growth Forest Walk, Montpelier, Montpelier Station, VA (4) 37th Annual Fall Forestry & Wildlife Field Tour, Culpeper County, VA You can register for these field trips through the EE conference website OR the VMN conference website (*forthcoming*). Only attending the VMN conference? Not to worry! You can still register for one of the four field trips listed above, and we will also be providing 4 additional field trips in the Richmond area. Early registration for the VMN conference will be opening next week!
