The Virtuous Wife Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. {Proverbs 31:10-12} Proverbs has a lot to say about women. How fitting that the book ends with a picture of a women of strong character, great wisdom, many skills, and great compassion. Some people have the mistaken idea that the ideal women in the Bible is retiring , servile, and entirely domestic. Not so! This women is an excellent wife and mother. Her strength does not come from her amazing achievements, however. They are the result of her reverence for God. In our society where physical appearance counts for so much, it may surprise us to realise that her appearance is never mentioned, her attractiveness comes from her character.
