The Visitation Team for Sure-P projects in CRS. I am informed - TopicsExpress

The Visitation Team for Sure-P projects in CRS. I am informed that a monitoring team from Abuja will soon visit CRS to inspect Projects executed under the scheme. Im sure most cross Riverians will join me to wonder where the state will take them and what projects they will be inspecting. If you are one of those who think Vena has gone mad, with his inquisition on billions of funds accruing to the state without any semblance of projects to show for it, then you may have to think again. I hear a few misinformed people think the 6 bn Bakassi mystery fund is a joke. Even more worrisome is the Agricultural loan to farmers of 2bn handed over to foreign investors ( farmers ). If you had doubts about these Im sure you should wonder about Sure-P. Everywhere in the country, there are mega projects everywhere proclaiming the effort of the FG under the Sure-P programme except in CRS! Like one Oba in the South west declared today about Nigeria , I think we in Cross River State are getting the govts we deserve! In a state where the campaign is about continuity one wonders what we want to continue! This voodoo economics? This subjecting people to such a cruel fate? Indeed elsewhere people should shy away from idenifying with such policies. Come to think of it when we mention continuity glibly what do we mean? What exactly do we want to continue? Just a mantra to please the powers that be? I pity my friend Jarigbe who is burdened with a project whose funds I am convinced he does not know where they are lodged, let alone knowing when and for what purpose they are deployed! I hope he gets settled with a NASS seat to justify his discomforting silence! Unless and until the citizens of this state are ready and willing to stand up and ask questions about what is being done with resources appropriated for their benefits, we will continue to wallow in abject poverty. There is no magic about impacting on people. Its a transparent process. Apart from NGO projects and a few jobs under the counter part funding programmes of the ministry of Education no other projects are going on in the state except those to his in law Sematech who has become the defactoconsultant for the Ministry of works and the major contractor. Yes, I admit that I served in this govt. I admit that I have been part of this system. But at what level? Can we say for instance that Jarigbe Agom knows what is being done with Sure-P funds? We are all such victims! Indeed the massive resignation from the govt cabinet is a clear testimony of the failure of leadership that is appalling commentators outside the State! Moving forward with the anointing agenda will bring interesting moments in this transition! Maybe it is to create the impression that the process is transparent and democratic! We demand no less. As for me, I have taken my position: we must right these wrongs by exposing them where ever they rear their heads! I will not be a beneficiary of that effort but the society will be a better place, hopefully! If this present state of affairs is the continuity cross Riverians desire, I wish us all luck moving forward!
