The Vodafone Fiji U20 football team is just a match away from creating history and qualifying for its first ever FIFA age group World Cup. All the Ravinesh Kumar coached side needs to do to make the dream a reality is to beat Vanuatu in its OFC U20 Championship match tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium in Suva. Three points is all they need to seal their spot in the world stage event which will be held in New Zealand next year. The match which commences at 5pm now becomes the highlight of the championship as the final result will somewhat give a clear indication of the winner. Kumar is positive about their chances but says they will do their talking on match day. Yes, we know how important that match will be for us. We will treat that game like any other match that we have played already. Ofcourse we will be out to win and do our country proud. Vanuatu has been one of the consistent teams in the competition and definitely this will be our biggest match. Both teams will be out to win and the result will surely decide our status. I have all the confidence and faith in my squad and we will plan well for the match and do our talking on the field. Vanuatu coach Etienne Mermer on the otherhand believes Fiji will have the home advantage and will be their toughest opponent. They have been playing very well and have won their games. We did not do very well against Solomons but lifted our game against American Samoa. The Fiji match is very important for us and we will go for nothing less than a win. A draw might still keep things open but a win would be better as it will keep us on track. Yes it will be toughest match of the championship and the team which prepares well and makes less mistakes on match day will be the one that will win. We will work on our strategies and will come out strongly. Fiji so far has scored 9 goals and conceded none while Vanuatu has scored 5 goals and conceded none. Current standing- Fiji 9, Vanuatu 7, PNG 4, New Caledonia 3, Solomon Islands 1
