The Voyager space program must be the most successful and inspiring space mission so far. The space craft have flown to the edge of the solar system and, 35 years after their launch in August 1977, still send messages to NASAs Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California from a device with the broadcasting power of a digital watch. The craft contains the famous golden record. A set of carefully selected recordings etched onto a medium designed to keep the recording stable for a period of 1 billion years. Among the personnel on the recording project were creative-director Anne Druyan who worked on it with Carl Sagan, the Physics MsC and astronomy and astrophysics PhD who became most famous for his skill as an educator. On finding the final piece for recording Anne, who had had no personal conversions with Carl, proposed they get married. Two days after the launch of the first of the space probe on 20th August 1977, Carl and Anne publicly announced their wedding and they remained married until his death on 20th December 1996. radiolab.org/2007/oct/22/
