The WW Team have some massive thank- yous to hand out. Without a venue for the event, the Borderlands wouldnt have even got off the ground, so the first one goes to John Swan Ltd. Their unstinting handing over of the Wooler Auction Mart, giving us free reign to use every square inch, was an unparalleled act of generosity. Nothing was too much trouble to Tony Hall who runs the mart, even down to sorting out the entrance to the car parking field on his Saturday off! The WW team hope they will allow the event to come back in the future. The MARSHALS! What a fantastic bunch of people who showed up at very silly early doors to very late doors, swapping hats from sign on ladies to feed station and water station ladies, from car park marshals to route marshals, to jelly baby doler outerers, to a welcoming you back bunch at the finish. And they had to go to some very way out locations! From both sides of the Borders, they showed Wooler and the surrounding areas in the friendliest possible light and the day of the event would not have gone as smoothly as it did without them. Great respect for them and a great big thank you to them for answering the clarion call. Sign up for the next one??! To the Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative. Karl did his usual sterling job of sorting out your bike problems, this time joined by Gareth, both coming from the Newcastle shop. Without the support from EBC, a lot of you wouldnt have been able to continue on the day. Thank you EBC for your continued support of the WW events. To Brendas Kitchen who fed you on the day. The girls dont usually deal with lycra clad bodies, more welly boots and waxed jacket clad bodies. They did a sterling job with a smile on their faces. Three masseurs! Anna Stokoe, Dave Cash and Sarah Patterson who sorted out your broken - sorry, aching bits and pieces when you returned. Their very last client was Ged from the Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative head office. He came down to ride a bit of the course to see what all the fuss about the Northumberland and Scottish Borders countryside was all about. Ged ended up doing the whole of the 170k route and was ever so pleased with himself! And ever so pleased he was in time to get his massage. There are many many more thank-yous, too many to go on here, the WW team hope they know they are as appreciated as anyone else, the event depends on them all. Thank you.
