“The Walking Dead” final scene analysis: the last thing we see - TopicsExpress

“The Walking Dead” final scene analysis: the last thing we see is Morgan placing 3 items on the altar of Father Gabriel’s church. He places a “Moon Pie” type snack, a large caliber (I believe it is a 44 caliber) bullet, and a lucky Rabbit’s Foot key chain. These 3 items obviously have some significance (Chekov’s gun, anyone?) Perhaps they represent 3 members of Rick’s group. In reverse order: The Rabbit’s Foot could represent Daryl who got into a fight over a Rabbit that was “claimed” by someone else. The 44 caliber bullet is of the size used in Rick’s bad ass Cobra revolver. Finally, the “Moon Pie” is similar to the junk food Michonne and Carl were snacking on as they walked down the train track’s towards Terminus. If you recall, a junk food wrapper was discarded along their path and Joe and his ilk walked right past it. So why would Morgan have such items and how did he come to have them? We haven’t seen Morgan since the “Clear” episode and when he has shown up it is only in quick “teaser” scenes where he is walking through the woods and looking at markings on trees. Perhaps Morgan has been shadowing Rick’s group for some time now and picking up these small tokens along the way. Remember that in “Clear”, Morgan has clearly lost his mind so it wouldn’t be too far of a reach to think Morgan now sees himself on a mission to follow Rick and his group and (perhaps) protect them. Or perhaps he is simply trying to catch up to them. But what of the tree markings? I suspect someone in Team Rick is making these marks in order for Morgan to keep tabs on the group and eventually follow the “bread crumbs” to link up with the group.
