Walter Wood was a director of Modesto Bank... which he helped start, he also had a hand in starting the Grange Company in Modesto... after leasing his 1200 acres of grain in 1873 he started the Wood and Turner Hardware on 9th & H st. Harry D Crow who owned the Modesto Hotel, also owned this home, in 1988 he had it put on the historical registry. It was moved out to 143 Nebraska Ave between 2000-2004.
