The War on the Poor continues: Rep. [Lynn] Jenkins’ bill [the Child Tax Credit Improvement Act of 2014] makes families making between $110,000 and $150,000 eligible for a child tax credit. At the same time, her bill failed to extend the same child tax credit for working families making less than $15,000. Let that sink in. Lynn Jenkins is proposing we raise taxes on low-income working families – the very families trying to work their way into the middle-class and make a better life for their children – to pay for tax breaks for those making well over $100,000. What would Rep. Jenkins tax raise look like? According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, a single mother in Kansas with two children who worked full time at minimum wage and made $14,500 annually would lose a tax credit of $1,725 in 2018. taxvox.taxpolicycenter.org/2014/06/30/misguided-expansion-child-tax-credit/
