The War on the Pun. The government of China has discovered a new enemy--the pun. They have outlawed the use of puns on the grounds that the use of puns could create “cultural and linguistic chaos.” I imagine that, next, the venerable protectors of the purity of the Chinese language will attack the metaphor and the simile as a veritable axis of linguistic evil. I really dont know what to say about this (except, perhaps, that its all Greek to me).
