The Warrior Empress (1960) Heres a picture I saw as a wee lad and didnt know what to make of it. I found it on line a few years ago and really enjoyed it. (your experience may differ) It stars Tina Louise of Gilligans Island fame. I was a Maryann fan when I was younger but as I get older Tina looks better and better. The original title of the The Warrior Empress Saffo - Venere di Lesbo Sappho, Venus of Lesbos. Tina is Sappho a princess and there are a lot of men fighting over her. Its a great story. Low budget, so dont expect Ben-Hur, but you get to see a Greek sea battle where the soldiers actually board each other ships to fight. Ive never seen that in any other sword and sandal movie. Low budget but well done. I was put off by the name Lesbos, (which is why they must have changed it). The version I found on line was called Sappho-Venus of Lesbos (I no longer have the link) The movie even tries to be historically accurate as much as they could back in 1960 they put in one woman who didnt like men but said nothing more about it.
