The Way is one of the darker, more rhythmically driven songs on Ethereal Blues. Kind of like my followup to Black Valentine :) I wrote this song at a really low point last summer in the midst of a huge writers block and was contemplating quitting music altogether. I was mentally and physically exhausted, fell into a huge depression, and spent months fighting through every second of every day. I had been praying for a miracle, as I was completely lost and had no idea what to do. One day I was sitting at my piano for hours, watching the clock tick, and was playing one note over and over again to the beat of the clock. After 5 minutes of playing that single F#, three chords followed, and a melody stirred inside me. My prayer was answered, as this song not only helped me break through my writers block, but spawned the wave of creativity that I needed to finish writing the rest of my album. Its not only a song to me now, its a beacon of hope. That theres beauty in the darkness, and sometimes it takes those darker times to redefine who you are, and to ultimately find your way.
