Source SHARE Link With Images: theweatherspace/2013/11/06/pacific-northwest-storm-shifts-track-stronger-storm-now-expected-on-thursday-with-severe-weather-or-tornado-possible/ The Pacific Northwest storm via satellite images seems to be developing the surface low further north than expected, which will have a greater impact than previously expected on the region for Thursday and residents need to prepare for this one if you did not prepare for the last one as this one has stronger Severe Thunderstorm Dynamics for the chance of tornado dynamics and/or damaging winds along the front. Another damaging wind event is likely once again for this region as the upper level trough approaching the area tonight begins to show itself. By Thursday morning this surface low will be off the Washington Coast, moving northeast with time. This track is similar to the last one, which caused damage in the Puget Sound areas. Areas in Southwestern Washington will have severe weather and possibly tornado dynamics along the front with this during this time-frame. The Cascade Range will see over a foot of snow above 7,000 feet with the system, with the Olympic Mountains seeing around six inches. As for Portland, winds are expected with the frontal zone on Thursday, likely to advisory level 30+ mph in gusts or higher, stronger gusts with the main front could be possible. Portland will also be in the severe weather area, where shear + instability and lift will be enough to warrant tornado probabilities. Eastern Washington … Areas from Spokane, WA southwest to Kennewick, WA will also have developing instability over the day on Thursday. The timing of the frontal zone dynamics suggests that thunderstorms will be likely there as well … with the chance of damaging winds and/or even that tornado chance. KMartin
