The Wednesday Morning Quarterback, Post Election Thoughts. I am saddened that my friends Pat Jackson and Thomas Cox did not prevail. Young black folks generally do not vote and attorneys even African- American oft times will not rally behind black candidates who challenge white incumbents, especially those who are not self-employed. We have become so afraid. I predicted Emma Darnell would win because her southwest Atlanta base is comprised of seasoned voters who get it versus Bill Edwards South Fulton base, some who do not. For that same reason I predicted John Eaves would sneak by Robb Pitts. I knew that Jane Barwick would almost win because two African- American women ran against each other for the same seat, history has shown us that that is just not smart folks. I also predicted that my friend Valarie Wilson would be in a runoff with her opponent. Name recognition, community ties and work in community will always overshadow where we went to college, law school, sorority and fraternity ties. I also thought for that reason Brenda and Marvin would make the runoff, no offense to anyone. I salute anyone who seeks public service, stay encouraged Nathan Wade, et al in spite of...We have not elected an African-American to the bench in Fulton County since Judge Kimberly Esmond Adams. We elected Michael Johnson before her and he resigned in mid term to run against John Lewis. I am just stating the facts as alarming as they are, so what are we going to do about it, where do we go from here??????
