The Weekly Greenville NUUS for June 12, 2014 Come this - TopicsExpress

The Weekly Greenville NUUS for June 12, 2014 Come this weekend and meet the Rev. Rod Debs, who was recommended by the UUAs Transitions Office, interviewed by the Developmental Ministry Task Force, and voted unanimously by your Board of Trustees to be hired as your Developmental Minister, contingent upon successful contract negotiations and criminal background checks. Rev. Rod and his wife, Jeannette, will be available to Meet and Greet folks three times this weekend: 1. Saturday, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm, here at the church building for a Meet and Greet Reception, 2. Sunday, after the Sunday Service at an extended coffee/refreshment time, 3. Sunday, 5;30 pm, over dinner at McAllisters, followed (weather permitting) by attending Sunday in the Park together. Bring a chair for the concert. Perhaps this word has not adequately been explained, so let me say it succinctly, the Task Force and Board have unanimously voted to hire Rev. Rod Debs as the Developmental Minister (probably beginning in September), but he has not been confirmed (because no contract has been signed and the background checks have not happened) and the congregation does not have to vote on him. Calendar Reminders THIS SUNDAY June 15th 9:30 am Mindfulness Meditation in the Library 10:30 am Sunday Service Changing Partners Led by Rev. Rod Thompson, Interim Minister This will be my last Sunday Service with you as your Interim Minister, so I want to talk about the transition from me to your next minister, reload my tub, and sing our swan song (so to speak). You will be changing ministerial partners as I will be changing church partners. Come, lets celebrate together and take the next steps (dance metaphor intended). 11:45 am Extended Fellowship Time after the service to meet the proposed Developmental Minister and his wife. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Wednesday, June 25 will be UU night at McCallisters. The UUCG will get 5% of everything spent between 5:00 and 9:00 that evening. Come and bring family, friends, and acquaintances. There is always an interesting group at UU night. FROM THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE The attached spreadsheet the committee assignments and results of the Annual Meeting Elections are based on discussions by the Nominating Committee members with individual members and the interest cards collected during the pledge campaign. Please review the list and let Patrice (pealexa123@yahoo) know of any additions or changes you would like to make. Apologize in advance for any mistakes, etc. I would like to give the committee chairs a list of their probable committee members next week so they can start planning for the year ahead. Thanks. Patrice CARDS FOR THE TROOPS As a follow up to last weeks very moving Memorial Day service, cards are still available to sign for currently deployed troops. The cards are on the cabinet with the hymnals. Ann will collect all cards for inclusion in packages shipped by NCPacks4Patriots. The Membership Committee is working to update the congregations directory. Alice Arnold will be taking pictures for the directory every Sunday in June, after the service. Please see Alice if you do not have a picture in the directory or if you would like to update your current picture. If you already have a photo you would like for us to use, we will be happy to try and incorporate that. If your address, phone number or e-mail has changed since the last directory, please submit the changes to Becky Woelkers - beckyw09@yahoo. As summer approaches, the worship committee is looking for congregation members who want to lead services. There will be a 6-8 week gap between when Rev. Rod leaves us and the developmental minister will start leading sermons. This is where we need your help. If you are interested in leading a service please contact Michael Betteken (ike4587@gmail) as soon as possible. The worship committee has presented two potential topics for the summer series which are what inspires you and what I believe. The what inspires you series is being brought back from last summer which was a great success. The what I believe series is a chance for you to share with the congregation what your beliefs are and why they are important to you. Want to lead a service that doesnt fit in these two categories? Great! Let me know what I can do to make your dreams come true. We are looking for people to lead services on the following dates: Sunday July 6th Sunday August 3rd Sunday July 13th Sunday August 10th Sunday July 20th Sunday July 27th Lets make this summer awesome! Thanks, Michael Jackson
