The West Texas historical Association will hold its 2014 annual meeting in Odessa, TX on April 3, 4, & 5. Our state historian and Vice President of the WTHA will be the speaker at the banquet on Friday night. I, along with Chuck Parsons and Donaly Brice (Author-The Governors Hounds) will be on a panel 4 April at 2:30 pm. Brice will speak on Texas Reconstruction and Chuck will speak on Wes Hardins early years. I will speak on the death of Wes Hardin, killed in a gunfight in El Paso, 1895. Title of my talk Four Shots; One Kill. Many historians and students of western history believe Hardin was shot in the back. I will present the truth as it was reported along with photographs to show that he was most likely shot while facing his killer. Chuck and his wife Pat will be making additional speeches and we will have a book signing table available. Chuck Parsons has many titles he will be displaying and I will have three titles. There will be many speakers, authors, and members in attendance as it is a very big event. We hope to see you there and put a face to those we know by name only. NWB
