The Wicomico High School campus will be shut down at 3 p.m. today so repairs can be made to a 1957 water main serving several areas of the school. The water main for the Building E section of Wicomico High, which also serves Wicomico County Stadium, broke late Tuesday evening. The water will be turned off at 3 p.m. today to implement emergency measures to stop the water flow and to isolate the break. Once that is done, follow-up repairs will be made to the line. The City of Salisbury is working closely with Wicomico County Public Schools’ Facility Services staff to ensure the repair is done quickly. Due to the water shutdown, Evening High School classes are cancelled for Wednesday night, but will resume on Thursday night. Provisions have been made for County Stadium and nearby athletic fields to be served by portable toilets for the next few days. After-school activities including athletic practices will go on today as scheduled, however, and the school will be open as usual on Thursday.
