The Widow of Zarephath 1 kings 17:8-16 Elijah did not intend to - TopicsExpress

The Widow of Zarephath 1 kings 17:8-16 Elijah did not intend to exploit a poor, hopeless widow, but the word of the LORD came unto him, “Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” When the request came before the prophetic word she expressed some fears, but when the prophetic word came she dared the devil! I don’t know if she had encountered Elijah before then, but her response was not to a mere man but to someone that carried something from God. She obeyed the prophetic because she honoured God and accepted Elijah as a man of God. She took a risk on the prophetic with no backup plan should the word fail. Her response to Elijah determined her survival through the famine. The word she believed connected her to abundance and prosperity to even care for others. “And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper” - 2 Chron. 20:20 Don’t let who the prophet is in the physical cause you to stumble at God’s prophetic word (sent through him) which may be your lifeline for prosperity and power to excel and go through storms victoriously. God uses a prophet’s personal need to connect his people to life and wealth. Prayer: Lord, I receive great sensitivity in my life to respond correctly to the prophetic flow through the prophet in Jesus’ name, amen.
