The Wisdom Route Vedanta and Indic philosophy spread from central Asia to China and the Far East – as monks and pilgrims journeyed through the ancient silk route disseminating this age old Vedic wisdom from the Sanskrit manuscripts. Today the Vedas are the heritage of many Asian countries and other religions like Jainism, and Buddhism. The Vedas were the foundation of many Asian cultures and even the Tibetan culture evolved as an idiom from Sanskrit texts. Some of the teachings spread via the Mediterranean Sea to other civilizations as far as Persia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The older manuscripts were all written in the Bhrami script and the Gayatri mantra has been translated into Manchurian, Chinese, Mongolian and Tibetan scripts. Today the entire body of Indic philosophy which was converted into Buddhist teachings is available in Tibet though most of it has been lost from India. The whole far eastern region became co-sharers and inheritors of this vast eclectic treasure trove that propelled growth. In ancient India the temples and monasteries doubled as academic institutions and Vedic subjects including Tantric practices were taught here. The Vedas along with its offshoot Zen Buddhism was widely practiced in Afghanistan, Pakistan ,Ceylon, Uzbekistan, China and Japan.
