The Women In Focus Conference, Port Douglas, #womenCAN womeninfocus.au This week I was honoured to attend the Women in Focus Conference in Port Douglas, sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank and held at the trendy QT Resort. I was delighted to be invited by the beautiful Emma Isaacs, CEO of Business Chicks businesschicks.au, and was in the presence of 140 leading Australian and International Entrepreneurs to hear amazing business stories and make connections. The theme was creative disruption and the mantra was helping other women. The goal was to unite and help each other with a mission to make business and ultimately the world a better place. I was moved with emotion from hearing the passionate and truthful business journeys of leading business women and the opportunities and challenges they faced in order to make change in the workplace and in our environment. Speakers included women across different industries and roles, from the retail, wholesale and ecommerce industry, the not for profit sector, from designers, coaches, nutritionists and wellbeing experts, to banking, farming and food, and much more. Keynote speakers and fascilitators included Megan Quinn, Julie Abrams, Dr Catrina Wallace, Linda Jenkinson, Dr Anita Heiss, Naomi Simson, Susan Biggs, Laura Bain, Jane Huxley, Sue Morphet, Laura Inman, Jodie Fox, Emma Isaacs, Claire Eeles, Therese Kerr, Denise Meyerson, Cathie Reid, Justine Ruscyzk, Michelle Chevally, Aisling Finch, Jacinta Mc Donald, Trudi Jenkins, Sue Ellen Watts, Tracy Ayres, Robyn Bowman and Michelle Loader. What made the conference so special was that it was not only informative and educational but heartfelt and fun. There was a generous amount of goodwill, lots of laughter and entertainment, and if that wasn’t enough, we were surrounded by the spectacular surrounding and scenery of the resort and pampered by the wonderful hotel staff morning, noon and night. We also received a generous goodie bag (which we were also proud to sponsor). Not only did I make valuable contacts but I also made special friendships and connections that I believe will be lasting and life changing. I wish to make a special thank you to all the organisers and hosts at Commonwealth Bank and Women in Focus Group for making the event such as special experience, in particular Katie Mihell, Melynda Carpeter and Lauren Palmer, Nicole Watson, Emma Mc Donald, Kelly Coleman and Chelsea Dunshire to name a few. Whether you are a leader in small business or big business, you are all leaders in your own life and have the ability to make great impact. We must use the special gifts and talents that we were born with, and follow our heart and intuition to find our truth path and inspire others to do the same, in order to begin a ripple of change. In summary, my ask is that you remember to reach out and help that women coming behind you, and ask for the help of the woman that stands in front of you.
