The Wonderful Holy Spirit : a. Searches the deep things of God. It is the Holy Spirit who knows the mind of God, we understand the gifts are bestowed on us through Him, He teaches us to preach the Word of God, and through Him we have the mind of Christ. Therefore if we do not have a loving relationship with the Holy Spirit, the spirit of the world will lead us. 1Cor 2:10-16 “But God has revealed it to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For what person knows a man’s thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God, except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit, which is from God, that we might understand the gifts, bestowed on us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit. b. Speaks In the book of Revelation the Holy Spirit speaks through John, Rev 2:7 “He who has ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” Our spiritual ears have to open to hear the voice of God. c. Cries If we are children of God we will have the Holy Spirit, and He will cry out only to the Father in heaven through us and will never call any other name. Gal 4:6 “Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts crying out,”Abba Father!” So through God you are no longer a slave but a son and if a son then an heir.” d. Intercedes True Intercession is possible only through the Holy Spirit, because Father and Jesus have sent only the Holy Spirit to help us in our every need and He alone knows how to pray according to the will of God.Rom.8: 26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weakness. For we do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” The saints mentioned here are not dead saints but living people who have single mindedness towards God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Paul calls them saints in Rom.1: 7. e. Testifies only Jesus Testify means to give evidence, confirming, confessing, giving a good report, and affirming what one has seen, heard or experienced something. John.15: 26-27 “ But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who goes out from the Father, He will testify about Me. And you also will bear witness; because you have been with ME from the beginning.” It is the Holy Spirit who helps us to give a testimony of Jesus in our lives. True christians also will do the same.1John 5:6-7 This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. f. Teaches Those who live according to the standard of the world cannot receive the Holy Spirit, and they can teach the Word only according to the wisdom of the world, but the Holy Spirit will teach those who have deep fellowship with Him and they will know the truth and when they abide in the truth of His word, that will set them free. (Jn.8: 31-32) Jn.14: 26, “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things I said to you”,(read John.16: 12-14) Since the Holy Spirit is the only person given to us, to help us in our every need, He will instruct us and sustain us as He was to the Israelites,(read Nehemiah 9:20).Peter and Paul preached as taught by the Holy Spirit and they did not preach with human wisdom,1Cor.2:13 “ These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” g. Leads and directs If we hold on only to the Holy Spirit, He leads us to walk under the grace of God, helps us to put to death the deeds of the body to live in the Spirit. And we are no more under the law and a slave to sin, (Gal.5: 16- 18, Romans 6: 12- 14) When we are freed from the law this way, then we are married to Christ, Rom 7: 4 “Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another- to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.” Then we are led as sons of God.Rom 8:14 “those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God” h. Commands When we walk with the Holy Spirit we will hear His voice. Acts 16:6-7 “Paul and his companions travelled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the Word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.” i. Call men to work and gives them tasks. When we live as the Disciples of Christ, the Holy Spirit calls to do work according to the will of God. Acts 13:2 “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” He is the cure for all loneliness. Develop friendship with Him. . Let us never shun, doubt, hate or insult the Holy Spirit. Let us continually approach Him with faith, love and adoration. Never insult Him by calling the Spirit “it” but always honor Him properly. Believers experience these things only when they know Him, love Him and fellowship with Him. Therefore let us welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives and live in continuous fellowship with Him who is an everlasting divine friend. He helps us to focus our attention always on God the Father, in Jesus Name and on things above Col. 3:1-3.
