The Woodstown High School Chamber Choir has been selected as the 2014 winner of the NJ101.5 Christmas Choir Competition. They were the top vote-winner in the high school category, earning them a prize of $1,000 and were also the overall winner of all schools in the contest and will receive a brand new piano from Worldwide Piano. In November, the choir held an evening recording session at the high school and sent the resulting track of ‘Jolly Old St. Nicholas’ to the radio station. From that entry, they were selected as one of five high school finalists. Their recording was played on the radio on December 15 and the whole school and extended community got involved with voting for their entry online. It was truly a group effort, with so many students, teachers, families and community members involved with getting the word out, and the choir would like to express their sincere gratitude! The new piano will be used in the auditorium, and the $1,000 will be used towards the purchase of new, much-needed choir risers.
