The Wooten Center is undergoing review to become a certified Service Enterprise site as sanctioned by LA Works and Points of Light. That means we will have undergone a comprehensive assessment and training in leveraging volunteer resources. See laworks/service_enterprise. Thank you to LA Works program director Becca Bloom and her AmeriCorps assistant Hazel Morales for their site visit yesterday. They met with staff to review our processes for recruiting, tracking, training, acknowledging and supporting our volunteers and to offer recommendations for improvement. Volunteers, including partner agencies like AKA Sorority, Kinecta Credit Union, Pepperdine University, Iridescent Learning and the California Step Association, are critical for helping us provide quality services, curricula and materials for our youth.
