The Word For The Day Praise and worship: Yet truly defining worship proves more difficult because it is both an attitude and an act. I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psa. 34:1-4. Five years ago I was hit with some devastating news. The mother of my children told me that she no longer wanted us to be together. For more than 20 years we have been in and out of one another’s life. We saw the good, bad and ugly in our relationship and in one another. We made several attempts to work on the relationship. Just about everything you can think of we tried to strengthen our bond with one another. Things were not working out so we decided to separate. For two years I had the hope that we would be able to work things out. While separated we lived in different states. Communication was good but because of selfishness and pride the conversations did not always end on a good note. I knew I had some work to do in order to be a better husband, father and man. During the separation we had not seen on another so we decided to do so. At the end of the visit I concluded that things were going well. Two weeks after the visit I was given the news of the break up. I was crushed. It floored me. I didn’t know what to do. For almost a year I couldn’t think of anything else but the break up. My relationship with God took a back seat. Jesus said in Jn. 15:5, “apart from me you can do nothing.” I told myself I can’t go through this without alone. I decided to recommit my life to God and to his people. I went back to church with the attitude of service which helped change my heart. When the fear of losing that relationship invaded my thoughts I would praise and worship God and ask him to help me through what I was feeling. Serving others rebuild my confidence in people. Praising God comforted my soul. He let me know that things would be okay. I learned that I had to feel the pain of that relationship so I could move on and grow. Today we have a great friendship. We are supportive of one another and can communicate better. To praise the Lord is a gift of which I am grateful. The Lord must come first in every area of life. No matter what the situation or circumstance the Lord will see you through according to his will if you allow him. What he has in store for you is more than you can imagine than what you have in store for yourself. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Prob. 3:5. To God Be The Glory! “Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.” 2Tim. 2:7
