The Word came to Kelvin at Burger King! I start nearly every day asking God to show me His target if there is one. I have both ignored them and unintentionally missed them before and do not want to do that again. Paula and I occasionally eat fast food. Okay, its public. Im sure it shocks your socks off. Today we decided to break out of our standard circle of lunch places and try Burger Kings new shaved ham on yogi bun sandwich. As we entered there was the beggar; leaning against his bicycle, dressed in clean clothes yet looking needy. Sir can I ask you a question? Thinking he already had, I said If about money, I only carry plastic. No sir, its about a meal. Having looked into his eyes all this time I had the peace I needed to respond. We can buy you a meal but on one condition. Okay sir? You eat with us and lets be friends when we leave. Yes sir, I can do that. Forty-five minutes later and all the advice we had about being an active member of the body of Christ and getting his name out for jobs we were parting friends. Paula told me she had two Lincolns in the truck and about $2 change in the purse. I nodded and then she told him our angle of the parable of the sparrow, how it rises praising God, spends all day foraging for God and His provision, and ends the day with thanksgiving. We went to the truck telling Kelvin Id be right back. When I returned, he and I sat again and I laid the $12 on the table and then unzipped and turned the purse upside down and emptied the change onto the bills. Kelvin looked humbly at the money and then up at me, eye to eye. Kelvin, this is all we have. It is poured out for you on Gods behalf. Just as Jesus poured himself out for you years ago. I took his hand, Father in Jesus name bless my friend Kelvin with knowing you are near. Give him strength to endure, and determination to seek you each day. Amen. My day is good!
