The Word is described in many ways and many metaphors. It is a mirror which shows us ourselves as well as a looking glass which shows us Jesus. Oh what a gift of grace! Without the Word we would be wallowing in men’s thoughts and opinions, and even with the Word of God in our hands so many still prefer men’s thoughts and opinions. The organized church today is so ignorant of the Word that professing believers by the millions will believe and follow men and women who teach things unholy and at odds with God’s Word. This can be traced to seeing the Word as an instrument that can catapult man into earthly success or a book of moral rules rather than the spiritual building blocks that can change a heart and transform a life.
