The Word of God is sharper than a double edged sword and it has - TopicsExpress

The Word of God is sharper than a double edged sword and it has been cutting into my flesh the past two weeks. The Word has been asking me some serious questions and has been testing my walk with the Lord. We hear about God’s amazing grace and His unfailing love for us, but what are we doing with it? Are we actually sharing it? Are we giving it to others? The Christian walk is not only about believing, it’s about doing. It’s not about performing for the Father so that He can love/like me more, nothing I do or don’t do can make Him love/like me more or make Him love/like me less. He loves me and He likes me period! There is absolutely nothing I can do to earn Gods grace, but I have to do something with the grace He has given me. We have been called to bear fruit for the King, He created us with purpose. Jesus gave us the message of reconciliation after He reconciled us back to the Father. What is the message of reconciliation? Its love, but how do I communicate love? Do I talk about it or do I show it? The saying goes that actions speak louder than words and that challenges me. I am so quick to speak but slow to act; shouldn’t I speak through my actions? Earlier this week when I left my home for work, I drove past a women with a baby on her back digging in a garbage bin, without doing anything. I just drove on, I felt so useless and I was thinking to myself, what am I doing to make a difference? We buy our little baby girl R500’s formula milk in a month and here’s a women digging in garbage to survive another day. Am I ignoring the need or am I meeting the need where I can? The word is clear: But don’t just listen to God’s Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise you are only fooling yourselves – James1:22. Now someone may argue some people have faith; others have good deeds. But I say, how can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds. You say you have faith, for you believe there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless? Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. And so it happened just as the scriptures say: Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith. He was even called the friend of God. So you see we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone – James 2:18-24. This begs a couple of questions: Am I fooling myself? Is my faith and actions working together? Is my faith complete?
