The Worrier… “Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Luke 12:27 KJV THOUGHT: Consider the lilies. They toil not, they spin not and they do not worry or feel anxious or feel stressed or feel fear. My grandmother’s name was Lilly and it wasn’t until I was older that the name fascinated me and I realized how beautiful it was. Here Luke was trying to tell us STOP WORRYING!! God has it all under control. Instead of filling our lives and our minds with all the things that COULD go wrong, why not fill our minds for what He has already accomplished. I read a quote a while back that said “if we had today all the things we thanked Him for yesterday, how much would that be?” I have found when anxiety comes to me like a hurricane or tornado, the only thing I can do is just start to thank Him for his blessings. When I focus on the GOOD stuff, the bad stuff doesn’t seem to be so big. In times of anxiety and stress, get out of your chair and begin to walk around your home, touching the furniture and lamps and nick knacks with a thankful mind set. Amazing how you realize how tremendously blessed we really are. God takes care of the lillies – His eye is on the sparrow – He made us – surely He will take care of us too. J Read the Word. Pray. Sing. Be thankful.
