The Year Ahead Not resolution as such, but things I want to - TopicsExpress

The Year Ahead Not resolution as such, but things I want to better on. Time Management As should be obvious to anyone, I have a bad case of constant ideas. I also have opportunities to pursue those ideas. This is good. But the net effect is me overbooking myself. This is bad. Part of the problem is figuring out what I can do, reasonably, in terms of workload. Ive only got three years of professional writing behind me, and its pretty much taken me that long to figure out how to balance cons, writing and what little personal life I have. So I am trying to be more disciplined with that. Communication Sort of across the board. Ive gotten away from responding to all of the Tweets towards me, for instance, and I want to get back to that. Likewise, actually responding to emails in a halfway timely manner. But beyond that, I need to focus on my retailer outreach and maintaining open lines of communication with them. I did some of that in 2014, and its worthwhile, but my general suckage at communicating means that I havent done as much as Id like. My goals there are twofold - to expand my contacts and to stay in contact. Likewise, I have a mailing list for fans. Or, I have the web service to do so, but have never gotten around to actually using it. This also needs to change. Health I have done fairly well with the walkies, but I need to do better overall with my health. So making an effort to get more regular exercise is something I need to do this year. The approach of setting a pretty easily attainable minimum and logging it in public seems to work, so more of that. More concretely, what I want to do is: Keep walking five days a week. I kind of wanted to get to three miles a day but experience seems to show that two miles is my sweet spot - short enough that the time expense doesnt feel so onerous as to make me not doing it mentally easier. Lift three days a week. Actually, I mean swing down to the gym three days a week and then probably do stuff at home the other two. For the gym, my program minimum (the bare bones I need to do for a session to count) is going to be three sets on four machines. Mostly because the gym is tiny and trying to use the free weights is hit or miss. But the machines are free and this should build some psychological momentum. Some higher intensity cardio. Walking is good and fine, but doesnt get my heart rate up to any notable degree, so Ill throw in some hillwork or something. I need to feel around to figure out my program minimum for this, hence the vague.
