The Year of the Trojan!!! Proud yet again to be apart of the Madison family!!! This is an article from The Tri-County Conference: The 2013-14 TCC championship race is complete and Madison has come away not only the big winner for this school year, but a winner for all-time. The Trojans collected seven TCC league championships during the 2013-14 school, the most ever compiled by one school in one TCC year. Madison won league championships in boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls track and golf. Both Clinton and Sand Creek had school years in which they won six league championships, but in the 42-year history of the TCC, no school had ever won seven – until now. In other championship news, Madison’s Josh Powers added two TCC titles to his resume this season as he coaches both boys and girls varsity track for the Trojans. Both teams won titles this year, giving him 13 all-time league championships, tying him for fourth place on the all-time list behind Sand Creek’s Ernie Ayers (31), Whiteford’s Kris Hubbard (23) and Summerfield’s Darrell Polter (17). He is tied with Sandy Clark, who won 13 league volleyball titles between stops at Morenci and Whiteford. The TCC began with the 1973-74 school year with six schools – Britton, Deerfield, Madison, Summerfield, Whitmore Lake and Ann Arbor St. Thomas. Two years later, Sand Creek and Whiteford joined the league, which has since seen Ann Arbor St. Thomas leave, Britton and Deerfield combine and Morenci and Clinton join. The league currently sponsors 11 sports – football, boys and girls cross country, volleyball, girls and boys basketball, golf, girls and boys track, softball and baseball. Wrestling has never been an official TCC sport even though several league schools compete in the sport.
