The Zambian Voice Press Statement on Youth Day Celebrations 11th March 2014 We would like to urge all Youths to participate in the Youth Day celebrations. This is a national event and youths are encouraged not to shun the celebrations. Their participation is an expression of pride and confidence in our nation. Youths, like many other Zambians may not have all their aspirations met, however, its cardinal for them to remember that God has bequeathed upon us, gifts which we can exploit to our advantage if we stay focused. Among the many the so many gifts we have the freedom to express ourselves fully. This liberty does not only give us the power to communicate our aspirations as a nation but also the power to engage our governments positively. Our nation is also blessed with an education system that has enlightened us in ways that we can use to involve government in a more productive and progressive manner. As you may be aware, Zambia’s economic landscape has exhibited signs of development, nonetheless more still needs to be done on the social, economic and political arena. This can only be achieved through the active participation of the youth rather than provoke them to ostracize themselves away from matters of national prominence. Above all Zambia is blessed with peace and democratic processes that work, this is an opportunity for youths to aim for leadership. Inciting people to demonstrate or protest is surely not the best way to aspire for leadership since youths are the future of tomorrow. We urge all the youths and the rest of the Zambian people to honor the protagonists who sacrificed for this nation and those, who to this day are striving to render good leadership to Zambia. May the good Lord bless the youths and the future of our mother Zambia. Chilufya Tayali, Executive Director.
