The actions of Forestry NSW and the Narrabri council in seeking to - TopicsExpress

The actions of Forestry NSW and the Narrabri council in seeking to close down the protest camps at Leard State Forest and in the Pilliga are unconscionable. They border on corrupt conduct – by any definition. Forestry NSW has done everything possible to facilitate the actions and activities of Whitehaven Coal and Santos. They have closed roads unnecessarily and when that did not work closed the whole forest to members of the public. They cited “fire risk” as the reason, yet blithely refused to see the nonsense of their argument. Their motives became transparent when these were the only two state forests in the state that they closed. They allowed camping and recreation to continue in all other state forests despite the extreme weather conditions. They allowed the activities of the companies to continue in very extreme weather conditions, in many areas the hottest in living memory.
