The advice that I give to everyone who comes to me when theyre feeling depressed is to exercise and meditate. Exercising gives you something to do to take your mind off of things, plus it helps you release dopamine, plus afterwards you feel accomplished and if you stick with it for a few months youll start seeing results which helps with insecurity. Meditation also helps takes your mind off things, it also eases anxiety and relaxes you. Drink tea and water instead of juice and soda. Sugar makes you feel like crud and its bad for you ! Take walks, explore the woods by your house (if you have any) , look at things in a smaller scale. Religion and spirituality helps a lot of people through their depression. Not religious? You should at least be open minded to ideas that /could be/, entertain the thought. Shower eat a salad look at pictures of cute animals listen to happy music (get over your hatred for pop if you have, the sooner you realize Pop music is good that happier your life will be) Cope with your self image and realize youre the only person that can make yourself happy, you shouldnt be looking for a boyfriend/girlfriend to make yourself feel good, that only leads to bad relationships that could be detrimental to your mental health. Get a stuffed animal write your feelings into a journal, no one has to read it and it doesnt need to be coherent, just write your feelings the way they come to mind. If you smoke weed, try smoking less. Being high makes you feel good, but you need to learn to be happy when youre sober too. Weed shouldnt be treated like a snack, it should be treated like a dessert ya dig? Practice mindfulness, taking in things whole without distracting thoughts. Next time youre eating clear your head, focus on the food, think about every little detail that makes that food that food. Is it bitter? Is it sweet? Whats the texture like? Most importantly, dont surround yourself with negativity !!!
