The air splitter placed in the center of the side air intake on the McLaren MP4/12C is made of a thin plate. It would not be possible to replicate this thin plate truly into a scale of 1/18 model using die cast metal. The minimum thickness of die cast metal is around 1mm, which will make the air splitter look too thick on a scale 1/18 model (as shown in the picture of a red model made by other producer). Autoart uses a very thin sheet metal of brass and stamped to form the shape of the air splitter in order to make it true to scale and looks more realistic (as shown in the picture of a silver model).
