The allies of Allah, The Exalted On the authority of Abu Hurayrah - TopicsExpress

The allies of Allah, The Exalted On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (radi Allahu anhu) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Surely, Allah, The Exalted, said, “Whoever shows enmity to an ally of Mine, I have waged war upon him. My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have obligated upon him. My servant continues to draw near to Me with the voluntary acts until I love him. Once I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he grasps, and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask of Me, I would surely grant it to him. If he were to seek refuge with Me, I would surely protect him.” [Sahih al-Bukhari] Commentary: His statement, “Surely Allah, The Exalted said ‘Whoever shows enmity to an ally of Mine, I have waged war on him.” This Hadith is a Hadith Qudsi. Enmity is the opposite of alliance. An Ally is the opposite of an enemy. His allies, The Glorified, The Exalted, are the believers and those that fear Him. The evidence for this is His statement, The Exalted (interpretation of the meaning): “No doubt, surely the allies of Allah, no fear shall befall them nor shall they grieve. Those who believed in Allah and used to fear Allah.” [Yunus 10:62-63] His statement, “I have waged” meaning I have notified and informed i.e. I have openly declared war upon him. Therefore, whoever has enmity for an ally of Allah, Allah, The Exalted, has waged war, and the war is with Allah. He, The Blessed, The Exalted, then mentioned the means of becoming an ally. So he said, “My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have obligated upon him” meaning there is no one that worships Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have obligated upon him since worship brings nearness to Allah, The Glorious, The Exalted. For example, two obligatory Units of Prayer are more beloved to Allah than two voluntary Units of Prayer. A Dollar of Zakat is more beloved to Allah than a Dollar of charity. Fasting in Ramadan is more beloved to Allah than voluntary fasts, and so on and so forth. Due to this, Allah, The Exalted, has made the obligatory acts incumbent in worship, and this emphasises their importance and His Love for them. “My servant continues to draw near to Me with the voluntary acts.” Meaning after the obligatory acts. The verb “continues” indicates continuity, meaning that he persists. “Until I love him” “Until” here possibly is the goal or possibly a motivation, according to the first, the meaning is: Its nearness to Allah leads him to Allah’s love. According to the second, the meaning is: He does not cease to draw near to me with the voluntary acts and this drawing near is a reason for His love. The objective (of both) is one. “Once I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears” i.e. I direct everything that he hears so that he only hears what is good for him. The meaning is not that Allah will become a person’s hearing since the hearing of a person is one of his (i.e. man’s) attributes, i.e. the attributes of man were created after they did not exist. It is one of his attributes i.e. of man. Likewise is said regarding, “his sight with which he sees” i.e. Allah directs what he sees so that he only sees good. “His hand with which he grasps” the same is said about this as was previously stated about hearing. Allah, The Exalted, directs his holding and actions with his hand so that he does not act except in good. “And his foot with which he walks” i.e. He also directs his walking so that he only walks toward the good. “Were he to ask of Me” i.e. supplicate to Me for something or request something from Me, I would grant it to him. “If he were to seek refuge of Me, I would surely protect him.” So he mentioned the request that will grant him what he seeks and refuge that would save him from being deserted. This Hadith explains that He, The Glorious, The Exalted, will grant the one who draws near to Him with voluntary acts what he asks and will grant him refuge when he seeks sanctuary. And Allah Knows Best!
