The amount of money required for Nomination Application Forms for aspirants running for any elective position under the umbrella of the PDP and APC broom is ridiculously outrageous. One Million Naira for a nomination application form fee for aspirants running for the State House of Assembly (PDP-N1million, APC-N850,000) is absolutely unnecessary. Come on, I see discouragement and frustration for those who are GENUINELY interested in serving their nation. With all these outrageous fees here and there, I believe it’s about time to look into independent funding of political parties in Nigeria. For example mandating annual fee for all members of a political party will decrease or eliminate funding problems altogether. If established and managed properly, annual membership fees will be a very reliable source of funding for candidates of the party involved. It will be effortless fundraiser for any candidate nominated by the party since the money can be used in paying for application fees and other expenses in favour of the nominated candidate. I strongly believe the annual membership fee idea is worth looking into by all political parties in Nigeria
