The amount of young marriages breaking up is alarming? Whats the problem? My first ever girlfriend was a Kikuyu, she said we couldnt get married because her grandmother, whom she never even saw, told her never to marry from those sides. I met another one from my own community, but did not belong to the same faith, when we were about to start MC: Marriage Counseling classes, she said her Pastor told her not to marry anyone outside her faith. My third after a very long break, left me because I got this invitation to visit her place, somewhere very far away from Kenya, for an iconic burial of a great world leader, she got wind of it 2 days after the invite, but before I shared it with her. Her friends told her I was secretive. #Awuoro. The rest today, as they say, is HISTORY. One thing that baffles me, maybe thats why I rarely attend weddings (please come for mine when that time comes), it worries me; is the degree at which after the youth of today tie the note, we never go beyond say 6 months to 2 years, after that there is a problem. We part ways in very interesting circumstances. Whats the problem? Whats the solution? Have we quit the teachings of our elders? Have the teachings become irrelevant? Even the very colourful ceremonies conducted in religious places, with great people in attendance as witnesses, very few of them last. Whats happening? Whats the solution?
