The annual Alpine Lake Leisure Living House Tour will take place on Sunday, June 23 from 1pm – 5pm at Alpine Lake Resort near Terra Alta, WV. Four homeowners will open their homes featuring many ideas for retirement and vacation living. The home of Kathy and Mike Andes showcases many quilts made and hand quilted by a family member and a “ladybug loft” designed especially for their granddaughters. For a lake view, visit the home of Bruce and Debbie Michael where Debbie, an artist, has personalized the house with murals and paintings as well as furniture that has a little history. Cindy Vantries and Wayne Judy built their new home near the ski slope where traces of the outdoors are reflected in the leaf and rock designs throughout the house and in their sun room which brings in the light. The expansive home of Trish Birch is a 2-story modular home with plenty of deck areas for entertaining. After or during the tour, visitors are invited to sit and relax for a few minutes while sampling complimentary home baked refreshments and beverages at the Alpine Lake Boathouse, overlooking the lake. At each of the houses on the tour there will be an opportunity to participate in the raffle of more than 6 finely hand-crafted items, each created by an Alpine Lake resident. This year a sampling of the items include a tree limb hat rack, a quilt wall hanging and planted hypertufa stone pots. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Preston County Backpack Program which sends food home for the weekend with needy children. Alpine Lake is a recreational community nestled in the foothills of the mountains that was designed to retain as much of the natural setting as possible in a residential community. Surrounding the 154-acre lake are an 18 hole golf course, a lodge with restaurant and fitness center, a motel, tennis courts and over 500 homes hidden in the trees. The Alpine Lake community is located on Alpine Lake Road off WV Rt. 7 just a few miles east of Terra Alta, West Virginia. The resort is approximately 20 minutes from Oakland MD and 1 hour from Morgantown WV. Tickets for the home tour are $10.00 and may be purchased at the Alpine Lake Lodge s or at the houses themselves. Each ticket includes a $2.00 discount for a meal at the Alpine Lake Restaurant which may be used at any time. For more information, contact the Alpine Lake Lodge at 304-789-2481.
